One of our goals at the beginning of the year was to create "Favorite Books" videos at the conclusion of each nine weeks. Miraculously, two things occurred: 1) we remembered and 2) we had time. I joke about this being miraculous because I fully believe that we make time for the things that are important to us. Reading is important to us and as a result, is important to our students.
You all have had a fantastic year of reading. I would imagine it has been difficult to choose a favorite from all the titles you've read each quarter. Congratulations on your accomplishments this year. You should proud of yourself.
ReplyDeleteI was wondering. What kind of summer challenge you are making for yourself?
Bridget, We're staying connected on Edmodo and have a couple students that are reading Rump. Mrs. Barber and I strategically started it as our extended text at the end of the year knowing we wouldn't finish...but were working to hook our students on a great title heading into the summer!
DeleteI am amazed, impressed and humbled by your love of reading! BRAVO to the 5th graders in this class. You inspire so many!
ReplyDeleteDianna Denton
Thank you for the kind words, Dianna! They were an AMAZING crew!
DeleteMs. Barber is Marvelous and Mr. O'Neill is Out of His Mind. Great Book Choices!
ReplyDeleteHaha...can't just be a coincidence, right?!?
DeleteSo, the music choice brought tears to my eyes. What a wonderful journey on which you have taken these readers. This is a year they will never forget. Congratulations to all your readers and congratulations to you, my friend, my brother.
ReplyDeleteMarti, that was one of our transition songs (by one of my favorite artists, Tyrone Wells) and was also performed by some of our students in the talent show as well as our entire grade level at the 5th grade celebration. The video was actually put together by Kennedy, one of our fantastic students. This was certainly a year Mrs. Barber and I will never forget!!
